A look at the course
Laid out around a former quarry, Morningstar Golfers Club features dramatic elevation changes throughout the course. These elevation changes, some reaching more than 100 feet, are the key component of a layout with virtually no level lies.
In a subtle way, Morningstar features “target golf.” Shots must be played to landing in areas flanked by strategically placed bunkers, mounds, depressions and “transition areas.” Wild flowers and prairie grass plantings add to the natural setting, and water comes into play on six holes.
Morningstar also has a state of the art practice facility that features a 15 acre practice range; 40,000 square feet of grass tee surface on three levels; target greens with bunkers; a short game practice area with a bunker and chipping green; and a 9,000 square foot putting green.
